Before its debut, TWS, known as ‘Seventeen’s younger brother group’, was involved in a logo copying scandal.
TWM Strap, a custom watch strap manufacturer, claimed on Instagram on January 2 KST that TWS had duplicated and used their logo without authorization.
TWM Strap complained on social media that the TWS’ logo was too similar to theirs. The company stressed that their logo was handcrafted and trademarked.
At the start of the new year, the brand voiced anger and announced their intention to report the trademark violation with a lawyer.
TWM Strap was outraged, contrasting their original product with TWS’ alleged copy. They felt obligated to address the issue because their emblem was valuable and legally protected under their name.
TWS, a Pledis Entertainment boy group, will debut nine years after Seventeen. Since Pledis became HYBE, TWS will be the first group to debut.
Online communities in Korea discussed the issue.
