BLACKPINK’s “THE ALBUM” Is The 1st Album By A Female K-Pop Group To Be Platinum Eligible In The United States

BLACKPINK has just set a new benchmark in Kpop and South Korean history with the release of their successful album “The Album” in October 2020.

Specifically, “The Album” has recently sold one million copies in the United States, making it the first and only album by a female K-Pop artist to be platinum-eligible in the country.

“The Album” was Blackpink’s first South Korean studio album and third overall, incorporating pop, R&B, hip hop, EDM, and trap elements. This album revealed a more mature side of the group by singing about the range of emotions young women experience as they mature.
