The Black Label Plans To Relocate From YG To A New Office In Hannam-dong

On January 13, KST, the financial investing sector reported that The Black Label will move its main office to Hannam W Office in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the first half of 2024, probably next month.

Founded in 2016, The Black Label is based at YG Entertainment in Hapjeong-dong. The Black Label board approved the Hannam W Office move in June 2023.

Industry experts believe the shift is a step toward The Black Label’s separation from YG Entertainment. The Black Label was created by Park Hong Joon (Teddy) in 2016 as an outside record production firm for YG artists. However, the entertainment firm has recently expanded by recruiting artists and holding auditions to find fresh talent.

YG Entertainment was The Black Label’s largest shareholder early on, but now owns 21%. SAEHAN Venture Capital, another early investor, has been buying The Black Label shares since 2021. The Black Label has an external director, SAEHAN CEO Lee Jung Hoo.

Once relocation is complete, The Black Label will likely seek venture capital financing to attract and sign new artists and grow its business. The Black Label houses Zion.T, Jeon So Mi, Taeyang, Park Bo Gum, and others.
