IU’s ‘Love Wins’ Poster With BTS’ V Ignites Song Title Discussion

The main poster for IU’s “Love Wins” with BTS’s V was released. Fans were excited, however sexual minorities criticized the poster for the song’s title.

IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, posted a preview poster on their official social media on January 16 KST showing BTS’s V and IU face-to-face.

LGBTQIA people complained over the song’s title, “Love Wins”. Critics say utilizing this word, a slogan in sexual minority pride marches, for heterosexual material may diminish its significance.

Critics questioned the song title. Others considered such criticism excessive. They claimed that there are already multiple songs called ‘Love Wins,’ which symbolizes love triumphing over hate and bigotry.

Netizens questioned if the poster’s male and female characters imply heterosexuality in the song.

IU’s new single ‘Love Wins’ will drop on major music platforms at 6 PM on January 24. This release marks IU’s return to music two years and one month after ‘Piece of Pieces,’ in December 2021.
