3 Reasons V (Kim Taehyung) Accepted IU’s ‘Love Wins All’ Music Video Part Despite Enlisting In A Week

IU released the music video for her pre-release single “Love Wins All,” featuring Kim Taehyung, aka V from BTS, as her post-apocalyptic love interest.

‘BangtanTV’ and ‘IU TV’ published back-stage videos of the “Love Wins All” music video. Both show how the music video was made.

In the video, IU explained why Taehyung was cast as the male lead:

“Director Um Tae-hwa and I discussed the male protagonist. He needs a boyish mood. He must appear cool and trustworthy following the shift. I asked, “But Mr. Um, who on earth is like that?” Unexpectedly, I needed to contact V regarding something. Oh? V? V liked the music I sent him first. Listening to ‘Love overcomes all’ made him happy to star in the MV.”

This was Taehyung’s last major endeavor before his December 11, 2023 military conscription. He had a week before that day, and filming took two days.

In the videos, Taehyung gave three reasons for accepting the position despite the short schedule.

1. He likes Um Tae Hwa.

Taehyung admired Um Tae Hwa, the music video director who worked on ‘Concrete Utopia,’ and jumped at the chance to work with him.

“First of all, the director of the music video was Director Um Tae-hwa, who filmed ‘Concrete Utopia’ so I thought it would be a precious memory to work on a piece with him and I decided to star in the MV.”

2. His schedule didn’t allow drama or film shooting.

Fans wanted Taehyung to shoot a drama or film, but he was too busy with his solo album to do so. He wanted to leave them with a lot of stuff.

“I had little time to prepare my solo record. I promised ARMY a drama or film, but I couldn’t. I regretted not being able to fulfill ARMY’s wishes. Leaving as much as possible before leaving for the military. I hope they’ll see some exciting stuff while waiting.”

3. He liked IU’s tune.

Taehyung liked the song too. During his September guest appearance on IU’s Palette, he commended Palette pianist Dong Hwan, who wrote “Love Wins All.”

“When IU called, I suggested listening to this song first. After listening to it, I knew I’d regret not doing the MV because it was my jam.”

Taehyung and IU’s acting, the song’s beauty, and the talented director made the music video successful. It has gone viral and remains a social media trend a week after its release.
