What Korean internet users are saying about LE SSERAFIM’s extensive use of AKP STAFF references in their album “EASY”
Recently, LE SSERAFIM made a reappearance with their third mini album, “EASY,” however their heavy reliance on references has drawn criticism, with some even going so far as to call it plagiarism.
In his assessment of the group’s most recent album, music reviewer Lee Seung Won of the pop music review magazine IZM noted that there are striking similarities between LE SSERAFIM tracks and other pop tunes.
But he clarified, saying, “The allusions employed in the ‘EASY’ record are glaringly apparent. “Smart,” a song with a typical Afrobeat feel, is stylistically and melodically similar to Doja Cat’s “Woman.”
Concerns regarding possible plagiarism have also been raised by other listeners who have noticed that numerous of LE SSERAFIM’s tunes have melodies that are remarkably similar to those from other songs.
“Wow these songs are so similar,” said a Korean internet user. “Did they really only reference the songs?” “So this isn’t the first time so you can’t help but suspect (plagiarism),” “I think the songs are so similar I wonder if they used the songs as sampling,” “I think they crossed the line this time,” “It’s always this group with this issue,” “LE SSERAFIM has other tracks that sounded like they were plagiarized,” “I believe this group is always brought up when they put out new music. Tsk tsk,” and “It seems like such a lame label.”
