KINO Releases First EP ‘If This Is Love, I Demand A Refund’

After founding NAKED in late 2023, KINO is releasing his album, ‘If this is love, I want a refund.’

“‘If this is love, I want a refund’ is my first EP and depicts a relationship’s whole cycle. It also contains songs about love—good, horrible, and ugly. Love isn’t always good, as advertised or felt. Our diary is about me, you, and us “stated the single artist.

On lead track “Broke My Heart,” the artist blasts his wrongdoer and wishes them the worse. As the performer keeps the words real-life, it will resonate with all listeners because we’ve all felt hatred and disdain for someone. The song’s tale is further enriched by Philadelphia rapper Lay Bankz’s line. The two vocalists’ chemistry is shown in their Philadelphia music video, when they choreographed the chorus on the spot.

Social media went wild for KINO’s aggressive guerrilla marketing before its premiere. X posted a photo of KINO carrying a Coachella banner announcing the EP’s release. Since established artists rarely perform such an act in public, many music listeners were pleasantly surprised.

After the guerrilla marketing, KINO published a video called “Rate My Song” in which he randomly asks strangers to rate his upcoming song “Broke My Heart.” In addition to KINO’s proactive strategy, Simu Liu’s participation in the video drew viewers’ attention. After hearing the song, the actor awarded a generous score, building EP expectation.

The EP comprises four songs beyond the lead single. The breakup song “Solo” recounts a couple’s final goodbye. Instead of melancholy, lingering break-up songs, the artist sang about a couple who accepts their differences and wishes each other a better future.

The second EP single was the chorus-repetitive dance track “Freaky Love”. The song captures the time we fall in love and plan a future. The social media term “delulu,” used by his admirers, inspired the song. With vivid and amusing characters, the animated music video told the song’s plot.

On “Valentine,” KINO explores life’s deeper emotions. This track takes KINO back to his vibrant youth a few decades later. KINO encourages him and all listeners to recharge our boldness and courage with this reminiscing song whenever they want to give up. “Be my Valentine once more / Let’s go back to the time when we got nothing to be afraid of.”

“Fashion Style”—KINO’s debut single under his label—ends the album. KINO’s drum and bass-infused confidence song sought to tell listeners “you are beautiful in your own skin and don’t try to be someone else.”

KINO also directed the EP’s visuals. Its tale is told by two concepts: Reality vs. Expectation. Love looks wonderful in expectation. The realistic version shows us everyone facing love’s downside. From ears to sight, the EP will fill your long emotional and creative gap.
