With the tremendous popularity of his portrayal of Ryu Sun Jae in the television drama “Lovely Runner,” actor Byun Woo Seok is encountering a number of obstacles associated with his rise to celebrity status. Varo Entertainment, the label of Byun Woo Seok, released an official statement on May 30 KST outlining safety precautions for fans congregating during the actor’s public and private appearances. The label that was distributed today, “Hi there. Varo Entertainment is this. First and foremost, we would like to thank all of the admirers of actor Byun Woo Seok and offer some crucial information on the recent visits to the artist’s scheduled venues. Large audiences that congregate during an artist’s performance have recently raised concerns about disturbance and safety. We offer the following principles in order to safeguard our artist and promote a more responsible fandom. First, unannounced fan visits during private events have seriously harmed the artists as well as the organizers. Thus, we respectfully request that you hold off on visiting unofficial schedule places until after events have been made public. We kindly ask that during public scheduling, you do not take any actions that could jeopardize the safety of fans or the artist due to crowd congestion. This covers any conduct that would raise questions about safety, such as getting up close to the artist and giving them presents or letters. Please give presents or correspondence to the manager instead of the actor directly to avoid any mishaps in the future. Kindly forward letters and presents to the company’s address if at all possible; the management team will make sure the artist receives them. We also sternly forbid following the artist’s car after scheduled, making uninvited appearances and recording in their home or other private areas, and unlawfully acquiring personal data. We want to let you know that such behavior will be met with severe legal consequences. We thank you once more from the bottom of our hearts for your genuine affection for the artist, and we promise to keep everyone safe—fans and artists alike. I’m grateful. Concurrently, Byun Woo Seok will be starting his inaugural Asia fan gathering tour, dubbed “Summer Letter,” which will begin in Seoul at Jangchung Arena on July 6-7.
