Jennie Announces Solo Album While Negotiating Blackpink Contract Renewal

Blackpink member Jennie announced that she will be releasing her first solo album in five years.

Jennie directly revealed her plans for the future in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in October

Harper’s Bazaar asked Jennie, “If you had to choose a concept or genre of song to challenge yourself with on your next album, what would it be?” Jennie replied, “I’m working on things that are uniquely mine, and the most Jennie-like. Please look forward to it!”

Based on Jennie’s expression “uniquely mine, and the most Jennie-like,” it can be inferred that Jennie is preparing for a solo album. Fans are already expressing their excitement, saying, “Jennie’s solo is coming.”

Jennie made her solo debut with her first single album “SOLO” in November 2018, becoming the first member of Blackpink to do so. “SOLO,” written and composed by Teddy, showed Jennie’s mature concept and won three music show awards at the time. In March, the music video for “SOLO” surpassed 900 million views, setting a record for the first K-pop solo female artist.
