After one month, singer G-Dragon (35, real name Kwon Ji-yong)’s travel prohibition was lifted after a ‘negative’ drug test.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit declined to prolong Mr. Kwon’s travel ban, which expired on the 25th, the legal community reported on the 27th.
The police have asked the Ministry of Justice to prolong the travel ban on actor Lee Sun-kyun (48), who is under investigation for marijuana and psychotropic substances under the Narcotics Control Law.
The Immigration Control Law allows the Minister of Justice to bar departure for one month for crime investigation. After one month, the departure prohibition can be extended.
Given the different travel ban extension tactics, authorities believe Mr. Kwon and Mr. Lee’s future investigations will differ.
The National Forensic Service gave both individuals a ‘negative’ assessment.
In the case of Mr. Lee, text conversations with club manager Ms. A (29, female) imply the police will continue the inquiry.
The likelihood of a ‘non-indictment’ without further summoning and without prosecution in Mr. Kwon’s case has grown. This is because there is no circumstantial evidence and the National Forensic Service has finished its drug administration assessment.
Mr. Kwon and Mr. Lee are among 10 people under investigation by the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency for drug administration.
A police officer added, “We cannot reveal the travel ban release date, whether it has been lifted, or future investigation direction.
