Big Bang’s G-Dragon, who was under investigation for drug use, had his travel ban lifted, while actor Lee Sun-kyun had his extended.
According to News1, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Division did not apply to extend the travel ban for G-Dragon, who was arrested without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Management of Narcotic Drugs, on November 27.
However, the police have completed the application to extend the travel ban for actor Lee Sun-kyun, who is also under investigation on the same charges.
According to the Immigration Control Act, if it is determined that leaving the country is not appropriate for criminal investigation, you can apply for a ban on leaving the country on a one-month basis. The ban on leaving the country has been lifted for G-Dragon, whose investigation has not yet been concluded, but extended for Lee Sun-kyun, raising the prospect that the police are taking a different view on the direction of the investigation into the two men.
Last September, the police received information that drugs were being distributed at an entertainment establishment in Gangnam, Seoul, and identified Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon as suspects during the investigation. G-Dragon completely denied the charges, and both the simple reagent test using urine and the detailed National Forensic Service test requested by collecting hair, nails, etc. were negative.
Lee Seon-gyun is also suspected of taking various types of drugs, including marijuana, at the Seoul home of Mr. A, the manager of an entertainment establishment. As a result of Star News coverage, Lee Sun-gyun is known to have made a statement during the second summons investigation on the 4th to the effect that ‘I gave it to Mr. A, saying it was medication prescribed for insomnia, and I did not know it was a drug.’ Among these, Lee Seon-gyun was negative in the simple reagent test conducted at the time of his first summons, and was negative in the National Forensic Service detailed test conducted on body hair, including hair, leg hair, and armpit hair.
Accordingly, doubts are growing as to whether Mr. A’s statement is credible, and opinions are rising that the police may be carrying out an unreasonable investigation.
