City pop singer Yukika announced her retirement with the release of her last album, ‘Time-Lapse’.
‘Time-Lapse’ is a 6-song recreation of 1980s and 1990s city pop songs. Yukika wrote on Instagram to her fans after the album’s release on December 1 at 6 PM KST:
The record is finally out today.
I waited for its release after finishing the recording early in 2023, and now it’s out!
My initial release goal was last year, so I continued telling my followers I had been working on the album since then, but I made you wait much longer. I’m sorry. Thank you for waiting!
After years of pondering, this may be my last album!
Life’s future is unknown, yet…
It was an honor to cover these famous, charming, and great songs for my latest album, and I’m grateful to Yumizus who always support my new music. I’m glad I can deliver this present securely.
Music is eternal.
Please also adore this album. Many thanks.”
Yukika, who debuted as a solo artist in February 2019 with her first single ‘NEON’, is recognized for city pop songs including “Soul Lady”, “Scent”, and “Insomnia”. The musician married former MAP6 member Kim Min Hyuk in June 2022.
