A Senior Incheon Metropolitan Police Officer Was Detained On Suspicion Of Disclosing Details Of An Investigation Pertaining To Lee Sun Gyun

On suspicion of disclosing information regarding an ongoing investigation involving the late actor Lee Sun Gyun, a senior officer of the Incheon Metropolitan Police has been placed under arrest.

The Southern Gyeonggi Police’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit made the arrest on March 21 KST.

There are currently allegations against senior officer ‘A’ that he leaked the investigation report from the drug usage probe conducted in October of last year on Lee Sun Gyun. It has been established that during the course of the inquiry, ‘A’ was not connected to the Narcotics Crime inquiry Unit.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency was the target of a second search and seizure operation that the police carried out in addition to ‘A’s arrest.

In January of this year, the Incheon Metropolitan Police made a request to the Southern Gyeonggi Police to look into the disclosure of investigation details pertaining to Lee Sun Gyun’s case. To guarantee justice and openness, an outside agency’s probe was called for.

‘A’ will be turned over to the Southern Gyeonggi Police Agency in the interim for a comprehensive investigation and examination of all the materials that were seized.
