As Reported By ‘Dispatch’, The Korea Forensic Service Found That ZEROBASEONE Member Kim Ji Woong Did  Not Use The Curse Word’ssibal

On February 17, KST, ‘Dispatch’ said that it had gotten a copy of the Korea Forensic Service’s voice analysis report on ZEROBASEONE member Kim Ji Woong’s recent fan conversation with a fan.

After a fan conversation with the ZEROBASEONE member, a fan accused the idol of swearing right after the connection ended, thinking it had cut off.

Wake One Entertainment, ZEROBASEONE’s label, refuted the accusations, saying, “Digital media forensic examination will address these claims. Truth will be revealed.”

First, the analyst evaluated the pronunciation of every speakers’ words in the fan’s 3-minute video and Wake One Entertainment’s CCTV footage.

The analysts deciphered the formants (the broad spectral maximum caused by an acoustic resonance of the human vocal tract) observed by the speakers in the two movies and found three phrases in order: 1) “Thank you” 2) “Ssibal (f**k)” 3) “(either) Strange or suspicious” .

Next, the analysis found no sound frequency irregularities from sentence 1 to phrase 3. The analyst found that all audio were recorded sequentially without clipping or manipulation.

However, the analyst found a variation between phrase 1 and 2 wave patterns. Based on this disparity, the analyst concluded two things.

Since phrase 2 and 3 were spoken clearly than phrase 1, it was assumed that editing was utilized to emphasize their pronunciation. Second, wave patterns showed that sentence 2 was not pronounced by the same person as phrase 1. Phrase 3 may have been stated by the same person as phrase 1, however it is unclear.

Finally, staff member ‘D’ told ‘Dispatch’, “I don’t remember the fan call between Kim Ji Woong and the fan. But I’m sure Kim Ji Woong didn’t curse.”

After the ‘Dispatch’ article was published, Wake One Entertainment filed a formal statement on February 17 KST indicating that its legal representation (Law Firm Sejong) requested forensic examination. Wake One Entertainment reiterated the allegations summarized by ‘Dispatch’ and pledged to defend its artists.
