Rock ballad singer Jung Sun-yeon, 51, died of a persistent illness. According to Wannabe Entertainment, Jung Sun-yeon died the day before in Hanyang University Hospital’s intensive care unit in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, from his long-term illness.
Vocalist Jeong Seon-yeon debuted in 1990 with rock band “Four Seasons.” He founded Downtown alongside guitarist Kim Se-Hwang in 1991. Later transitioning to a solo career, Jeong Seon-yeon was known for his husky voice and sang drama OSTs like “My Mother Is a Daughter-In-Law,” “Solitude,” and “Bird That Doesn’t Cry.”
He returned to music in 2015 with a remake album of “Empty” from the drama “My Mother Is a Daughter-In-Law.” The singer’s rebirth excited fans and the music industry.
Jeong Seon-yeon’s memorial altar is at Guri Yoonseo Hospital funeral home, and his funeral procession is at 7:40 am on the 31st. Fans and artists are mourning the legendary singer’s death on social media, commemorating his contributions to Korean music.
