Belift Lab Is Still Battling ADOR And CEO Min Hee Jin In Court For Allegations Of Plagiarism Against ILLIT

On the afternoon of the 10th, Belift Lab responded to Min Hee Jin, CEO of NewJeans’ agency ADOR,’s plagiarism accusations against ILLIT, with a lengthy statement and video on their official social media accounts. Belift Lab said, “Min Hee Jin sacrificed an innocent rookie group for her personal gain,” along with, “We will hold CEO Min Hee Jin accountable by filing an additional civil lawsuit today for the damages caused to the artists, Belift Lab members, and participating creators.” Belift Lab explained that the 30th of last month’s judgment by Civil Division 50 of the Seoul Central District Court to award an injunction was not a decision on the plagiarism issue. The ruling concerned the request for an injunction to stop HYBE from using its right to vote at ADOR’s temporary shareholders’ meeting. They made it clear, saying, “It is incorrect to portray this as Min Hee Jin’s triumph over the plagiarism controversy. The criminal action against Min Hee Jin for slander and obstruction of business will proceed independently of the injunction. Belift Lab also provided an explanation for why, in spite of Min Hee Jin’s comments being mistakenly taken as gospel, they had not previously disclosed their position: “We harbored a small optimism that Min Hee-jin would resolve this matter on her own. She misleads the public into thinking that the approval of the injunction validates all of her claims, nevertheless, and she still makes unilateral assertions.” In addition, Belift Lab disproved the comparisons between ILY:1 and NewJeans in a video interview featuring ILLIT’s performance director, Myung Sang-woo, deputy CEO Choi Yoon-hyuk, and CEO Kim Tae-ho. “In her second press conference, Min Hee Jin superficially showed gestures of reconciliation,” they said in their criticism of Min Hee Jin. She has yet to express even the slightest regret or remorse to the innocent victims—among them, the artists who have been subjected to extremely hurtful remarks as a result of her acts. Rather, she placed the responsibility elsewhere, like the media. This is really unfortunate.”
