Due to YG’s ownership of the BLACKPINK trademark, it’s possible that Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé won’t be able to perform as the group.
Chosun Biz reports that when their contracts with YG Entertainment expired in August, fans have been speculating about what will become of BLACKPINK. The likelihood of the four members of BLACKPINK signing with other companies is relatively strong.

However, the members will lose the right to perform as BLACKPINK if they do not extend their contracts with YG. It’s because YG is still in possession of the BLACKPINK trademark.
The previous girl group of YG, 2NE1, had this fate. In order to perform under the 2NE1 moniker after the members had left the organization, they would need to have authorization to do so.
Moreover, numerous publications have speculated that BLACKPINK may decamp from YG to join The Black Label. This record label was co-founded by Teddy Park, who also produces for YG. Investors are apparently “unconditionally” pouring money into The Black business after hearing speculations that members of BLACKPINK will be leaving for the business.

In 2016, YG launched their own record label known as The Black Label. There was a point when YG owned a majority stake in this label (45%), however that number has since shrunk dramatically. This has led many to view it as a direct competitor to YG.
After their world tour “BORN PINK” concluded, all members of BLACKPINK have been focusing on their own pursuits and have not spoken on their contract concerns or collective endeavors. Despite widespread reports in the press that Rosé is the only member to have renewed her contract, YG has consistently denied these claims and stressed that they are currently in contract negotiations with all of their members.
Fans believe Lisa is no longer bound by any contract because she has been engaging in activities without management, such as her Crazy Horse naked display in France and going on lavish outings with her affluent lover. Jennie has experience acting, having participated in “The Idol,” a drama for adults only. The members’ recent actions suggest that BLACKPINK will not be able to continue as a group.
