BTS Jungkook (Jeon Jungkook), (G)I-DLE Soyeon (Jeon Soyeon), Seventeen Vernon (Choi Hansol), Bolbbalgan4 Ahn Jiyoung, and Ahn Ye Eun have been promoted to full membership in the Korea Music Copyright Association.
The Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), a non-profit organization led by Chairman Cho Gyo-yeol, announced on January 31, 2024, the list of 30 new full members for 2024.
As of January 2024, KOMCA manages the intellectual property rights of over 51,000 songwriters and composers. Each year, based on the association’s regulations, 27 members are promoted to full membership from the general music field and three members are promoted from the non-mainstream music field (pure, traditional Korean music, children’s songs, and religious music).
This year’s list of regular members promoted by the Korean Music Association includes famous leading K-pop artists such as BTS’s Jungkook (Jeon Jeongguk), (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon (Jeon Soyeon), Seventeen’s Vernon (Choi Hansol), and BOL4’s Ahn Jiyoung and Ahn Yeeun. A large number of singer-songwriters were included.
As an idol singer-songwriter, BTS’s Jungkook directly participates in writing lyrics and composing songs that are loved around the world such as ‘Seven’, ‘Still With You’, and ‘Dreamers’. Suga, who became a regular member in 2018, is a regular member in 2020. Following RM and J-Hope, he is the fourth BTS member to join the list of regular members of the Korean Music Association.
Soyeon, the leader of Korea’s representative girl group (G)I-DLE, and Vernon, a member of the boy group Seventeen, the first group in the history of the Korean music industry to achieve initial album sales of 5 million and a global fan base, were also selected for promotion to full membership. They are each involved in writing, composing, and producing the b-side songs and title songs of their groups, including (G)I-DLE’s ‘Tomboy’, ‘Queencard’, ‘Nxde’, SEVENTEEN’s ‘Monster’, ‘Fire’, and ‘Son Goku’. By participating, he is building his career and reputation as a musician.
