Some parents were posting signs on their corporate boards encouraging employees to vote for their daughter on Mnet’s latest idol survival program, ‘I-Land 2: N/a’, an online community disclosed this week.
A community member wrote,
Participation in Audition Voting
The daughter of ***, franchise location ‘A’ owner, is auditioning for Mnet’s ‘I-Land 2’. I request that all staff vote for Ms. *** to debut.”
Another community member noted that these notices were too frequent and annoying. The notice said,
General Affairs: Urgent Notice to All Employees
Hello, dear employees. This is General Affairs Chief ***.
The Mnet and WAKEONE idol audition program ‘I-Land 2’ features our renowned President ***’s oldest daughter, Ms. ***. Please vote for Ms. *** for her continuing program participation, workers.”
The second community user complained about their company president playing the theme song loudly in the lounge to promote ‘I-Land 2’ and bothering them.
Some netizens said these parents were “asking acquaintances” and that no one was “monitoring employees to make sure they voted”, but others thought there might be “pressure” if a company’s leaders asked their lower-ranked coworkers to vote.
Others said “If they feel some kind of pressure or if they are penalized for not voting, that would be power abuse” , “Why can’t they distinguish between work and private life?” , “If I received that notice, I would purposely vote for someone other than their daughter” , “I can’t imagine that a good president would actually ask that of his employees” , “If it’s the daughter of another regular employee, a notice like this would not be a big deal, but the daughter of the company president..?” , “If they’re pressuring employees to vote every time the voting resets, that would be pretty cumbersome” , “The fact that it was written by other employees at the president’s beck and call proves that it’s power abuse,” .
Mnet airs ‘I-Land 2: N/a’ every Thursday.
