BTS electrified the K-pop world when their music video “Dynamite” became the fastest by a K-pop group to reach 500 million views on YouTube, a milestone certified by the K-Pop Records Library on March 27, 2025. Released on August 20, 2020, under HYBE, the disco-pop hit achieved this feat in just 59 days by October 18, 2020 showcasing the septet’s colossal global popularity and the unrelenting force of their fandom, ARMY.
Dropped at 1 PM KST, “Dynamite” exploded with 101.1 million views in its first 24 hours, per Soompi, setting a then-record for YouTube premieres. By October 18, it hit 500 million, averaging 8.5 million views daily a pace unmatched by K-pop groups at the time. BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” took 112 days to reach the same mark earlier in 2020, while BTS’s own “Boy With Luv” needed 83 days in 2019. ARMY’s streaming campaigns, trending #Dynamite500M on X, propelled the MV, which later reached 1 billion in 235 days. By March 2025, it boasted 1.9 billion views.
