Media reported on June 21 that two South Korean female figure skaters were provisionally suspended for sexual harassment. This day, sports media reported that The Korea Skating Union’s Fairness in Sports Committee met on June 20 to discuss ‘A’ and ‘B’, two South Korean figure skaters. In Varese, Italy, South Korean figure skaters trained from May 15–28. After returning to Korea, ‘A’ and ‘B’ were investigated for frequent intoxication in their dorms during the training camp. The investigation revealed that ‘A’ and ‘B’ had secretly drunk in their rooms and sexually harassed a hoobae figure skater. While inebriated, ‘A’ ordered ‘C’, a younger male figure skater, to the female dorms. Sexually harassing ‘C’, ‘A’ continued. Also present, ‘B’ took indecent images of ‘A’ and sent them to ‘C’ via SNS. An investigation led the Committee to discipline ‘A’ and ‘B’. To begin, ‘A’ will be provisionally suspended from figure skating for 3 years and ‘B’ for 1 year. ‘C’ will be chastised for accessing the female figure skaters’ dormitory, and ‘D’, a training camp staff member, will be suspended for three months. ‘A’ and ‘B’ can appeal the Committee’s judgement within 7 days of disciplinary action. If given a 3-year punishment, ‘A will be barred from the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
