Following Anger Over ‘GGB’ Super Junior D&E Decided To Postpone Appearances At Music Shows

Super Junior D&E made the decision to postpone their performances on music shows in response to criticism of their comeback single, “GGB.”

The pair previously unveiled the track listing for their upcoming fifth mini album, “606,” on March 14. On the other hand, the Korean title song “GGB” was met with strong criticism since it used a disparaging slur for women. The duo’s company, ODE Entertainment, issued an official statement on March 16th, canceling the music show appearances where they were scheduled to play “GGB.”

“Hello, this is ODE Entertainment,” the label wrote. First and foremost, I would want to express my gratitude to all of the fans of Super Junior D&E. We attended internal talks with the artist and accepted the concerns regarding the next album’s title song, “GGB”. Cute lyrics in the song “GGB” express sentiments about missing an ex-girlfriend in a cozier environment. We meant no disrespect to be expressed with the phrase.


We apologize, nevertheless, for not taking into more account the possibility that, with the passage of time, there may be differing views on how the term should be used and that some people may find it offensive. We talked about a lot of options, but since the project is practically finished, there are limitations.




We have therefore heard differing perspectives within the company and have decided to postpone the performances at the future music events. However, we will make available every piece of content we have worked on. We kindly request your understanding.
