(G)I-DLE’s ‘2’ Album Breaks Pre-order Records, Aiming For Million-seller Status.

(G)I-DLE’s ‘2’ album breaks pre-order records, aiming for million-seller status.

Cube Entertainment revealed on January 24 KST that (G)I-DLE’s second full-length album ‘2’, debuting at 6 PM on January 29, had 1.8 million pre-orders. This amount exceeds the 1.1 million pre-orders for their 6th mini-album ‘I feel’, released in May of the previous year, making it the biggest in the country.

The 1.8 million pre-orders tied for second in K-pop girl group history. In 2022, BLACKPINK set a K-pop girl group pre-order record with 2 million copies of their second full-length album, ‘Born Pink.’ Girl group aespa’s 3rd mini-album ‘MY WORLD’ remains second with 1.8 million pre-orders.

Five days till (G)I-DLE’s comeback, pre-orders could rise even more. This indicates that ‘2’ might become a million-seller for the second time after ‘I Feel’ peaked at 41st on the US Billboard 200.

(G)I-DLE has been entering the North American market since late last year, adding intrigue to ‘2”s Billboard 200 performance.’ Their first American EP, ‘HEAT,’ debuted at 25th on the ‘Billboard 200,’ a career high.

While the pre-released song “Wife” caused controversy and was declared unfit for transmission by KBS’ music review, it’s just added to the album’s interest.
