Health Issues Delay Ahyeon’s Debut: Will She Return To BAEMON?

On November 27, BABYMONSTER released “BATTER UP” as its debut single. Instead of seven, the group has six members: Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita. YG said Ahyeon took a health leave.

Following a previous delay, Baby Monster released its first single amid rumors of Ahyeon’s resignation. Before her debut, Ahyeon was considered the group’s center due to her talent and beauty. She was expected to play BAEMON’s Jennie.

Rumors circulated that Ahyeon will not join BABYMONSTER before YG’s announcement. There were rumors regarding Ahyeon leaving or joining another agency. These rumors are untrue right now. YG did not specify “contract termination” or “team withdrawal” when it announced Ahyeon’s debut postponement. YG has maintained its place since its debut.

Will Ahyeon join the group’s next comeback? Recently, many KPOP stars have taken breaks to maintain their emotional and physical wellbeing. A group debuting without one member is rare. This is because a group must stand together onstage. Due to a previous postponement, BAEMON had to debut without Ahyeon.

Consider a similar case: Seo Ji-soo of Lovelyz. The debut lineup included Seo Ji-soo and Ahyeon, but their performance was delayed. Unlike Ahyeon, Seo Ji-soo’s debut was postponed owing to false rumors, not health issues. About a year after Lovelyz’s debut, Seo Ji-soo joined.

Ahyeon can join the team once she’s healthy. A new member joining a debuting group is common. Kyuhyun, Yeri, and Jungwoo from Super Junior, Red Velvet, and NCT 127 did this. Existing supporters sometimes oppose new members, although Ahyeon was in the debut lineup.

No YG idol group members have joined midway. Only members who rested for health reasons departed the squad permanently. This worries many fans. Ahyeon’s joining will benefit BABYMONSTER, and all options are open.
