HYBE Opens First In-House Healthcare Center With Medical Professionals

HYBE was the first South Korean entertainment company to open a medically-staffed in-house clinic. HYBE’s revolutionary decision is part of their commitment to the well-being of their artists and members, who lead the global K-pop sensation. To sustain industry growth, support their health routinely.

The clinic opened this year inside HYBE’s Seoul Yongsan headquarters. Since 2022, in-house nurses provided health consultations and essential medical services at HYBE’s health management office. The recent enlargement of this facility added in-house doctors and nurses and a medical space to improve artist healthcare.

Employees receive healthcare at the entertainment industry’s first in-house clinic. It follows the employee welfare model of Samsung, LG, SK, and several IT businesses.

A doctor and two nurses provide prescription prescriptions, intravenous fluids, physical therapy, and emergency treatment based on the doctor’s diagnosis at the clinic. Treatment rooms, a recovery room with physical and heat therapy, an intravenous fatigue recovery room, and a trauma care room are available.

The in-house doctor, Dr. Kim Jun Ok, treats mental health issues and general wellness. As a musician who studies composition theory and symphony conducting, the in-house doctor may relate to members who work in creative fields like music, performances, and content development. The shared humanity of music is believed to foster empathy for good medical care.

Artists, trainees, and members can use the in-house clinic. The goal is to carefully manage artists’ physical and emotional health, who are often stressed by busy schedules, intense stage performances, concerts, and fan contacts, especially during training.

Members can select time slots on the in-house app and website to schedule appointments. To ease member hardship, consultations cost 1,000 KRW (75 cents USD) and injections cost less.

Members report satisfaction with internal health issue resolution’s time-saving benefits. One said, “I had to regularly visit the hospital for chronic conditions, but now I can efficiently manage my time by addressing these issues internally.” Another member was pleased with the speedy recovery from cold symptoms with medicine and IV therapy.

HYBE offers unlimited vacation use, flexible working hours, company-wide refresh periods (days off), on-set rest vehicles, a healthy diet in the cafeteria (salad packs, healthy days), an in-house fitness center and personal training (PT), and psychological counseling programs in addition to the in-house clinic.

HYBE stressed the importance of member and artist health and safety to industry growth. They promised to provide a healthy workplace and a culture of rest for passionate workers to attract more talent.

The in-house clinic supports HYBE’s sustainable management. HYBE’s objective of “Creating the future of the entertainment industry together with the community,” shows its commitment to member health and safety.
