K-netizens Debate Fairness After NewJeans Sang 5 Songs At KBS’s ‘Music Bank Global Festival 2023’ While Other Groups Performed 2

On December 15, the ‘2023 Music Bank Global Festival’ featured popular K-pop musicians.

KBS celebrated a milestone by hosting the ‘2023 Music Bank Global Festival’ in Japan and Korea. Part 2 was pre-recorded in Saitama, Japan, on December 9, while Part 1 was live at KBS Hall in Korea on December 15.

This ‘Global Festival’ marks a turning point in KBS’s history, unlike the network’s customary ‘KBS Song Festival’. KBS’s innovative ‘Music Bank Global Festival’ shows its commitment to change.

The ‘Music Bank Global Festival’ featured internationally acclaimed bands. NewJeans played five songs—”OMG,” “Ditto,” “New Jeans,” “Super Shy,” and “ETA.”—exceptionally well. Fans loved it, calling it one of their favorite performances.

However, Korean netizens worry if KBS gave NewJeans too much special treatment because they performed five tracks while other groups performed two or fewer.
