While Korean art and culture have been gaining popularity abroad, attention is also being drawn to the actions taken by celebrities who want to further their careers abroad.
On October 15, actor Song Joong-ki made an appearance on JTBC’s “Newsroom” to promote the film “Hopeless” and shared his ambition to take his acting career abroad.
“I have an audition after this activity,” he stated. I’m hoping to pass this time since I failed the most of the previous auditions. I believe that I have a greater drive to push myself in diverse cultures and industries,” he stated, noting that he is always knocking on doors for international activities through auditions held in various nations.
The actor Kang Dong-won has already spoken of his travels abroad.
Kang announced his plan to work on a larger scale when he joined with CAA, a domestic entertainment agency in the United States, in March 2022. He previously declared, “People (all over the world) will watch it if I gain recognition (overseas), even if I film a Korean movie.” on the agency’s web channel. Then, I may film Korean films on a big budget,” he stated, expressing his true emotions.
Fans’ expectations for his abroad activities have increased as he recently founded AA Group, a one-man agency, and actively participated in the conception and production of film and drama situations. He also contributed to the production of the Hirokazu Core-eda film “Broker.”
The “God of Trot,” Lim Young-woong, also stated his desire to grow internationally.
