Most Daesangs (Grand Prizes) Won (Award By BTS)

The Official Award Of A Certificate

KRL’s documentation of this record highlighted BTS’s organic ascent. From their debut in 2013, they defied odds, building a legacy through raw talent and an unbreakable bond with ARMY. Each Daesang whether from the Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards, or Korean Music Awards marked a chapter in a story of triumph. As fans reflected on this era, BTS’s reign as the Daesang kings remained a dazzling highlight in K-pop’s glittering history, a record unlikely to be topped anytime soon.

When BTS, an underdog group from Big Hit Entertainment at the time, won their first Daesang at the Melon Music Awards for Album of the Year with The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever in 2016, the trip started off simply. It was a turning point that marked the emergence of a new giant and broke the monopoly held by the Big 3 (SM, YG, and JYP). The floodgates opened from there. They were the first group to win all the Daesangs at the Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) by 2019, and they did it again in 2020. With notable victories for songs like “Dynamite” and albums like Map of the Soul: 7, they took home important awards including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. Consistency was what made BTS unique. Their previous releases continued to garner praise even during their 2023 break as members completed military duty. With their reunion approaching, KRL announced their total at 71 in early 2025, giving them an insurmountable advantage over the next-closest competitor, EXO, with 23. Their domination was cultural as well as numerical. They were dubbed “National Living Treasures” in South Korea and were the only performers to receive the Artist of the Year title at the American Music Awards, combining national adoration with international recognition.
