It seems that YouTube channel Deokduk Suyongso, which has been drawing the ire of all K-pop fandoms for spreading fake news about idol stars, had no intention of apologizing for its wrongdoings. The strong legal response against the fake news about Jang Wonyoung, a member of the popular girl group IVE (An Yu-jin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Lee Seo), and Starship Entertainment will still have to face a long fight.
According to an exclusive report by Star News, the 18th Civil Division (Da) of the Seoul Central District Court made a conditional stay of execution decision on January 29 regarding the application for a stay of execution of the first-instance judgment of the lawsuit filed by A, the operator of Deokduk Suyongso, seeking 100 million won in damages from Jang Wonyoung. The court also delivered copies of the judgment to both parties.
The most eye-catching aspect of this decision was the conditional suspension of execution. The execution would be suspended only when the deposit of 100 million won was fulfilled.
If Mr. A was unable to fulfill the deposit, the decision to suspend execution would have been nullified, but it was confirmed that Mr. A had paid the deposit of 100 million won. Jang Won-young’s side attempted to proceed with compulsory execution of the 100 million won generated by winning the lawsuit, but compulsory execution was temporarily suspended due to Mr. A’s deposit.
From Mr. A’s perspective, this deposit revealed that he had no intention of admitting his mistakes. From Jang Won-young’s point of view, since she won the case, she may think that 100 million won in compensation and compulsory execution procedures are natural, but on the contrary, since Mr. A cannot accept the court’s ruling, he accepted the 100 million won deposit and blocked the compulsory execution. .
In the end, the two sides continued their legal dispute through the subsequent appeals trial. Mr. A, who has been consistent in his inaction in the first trial, plans to prove unfairness through the second trial rather than accept the loss in the first trial, and can also draw a picture of retrieving part or all of the 100 million won in deposited money through a reversal of results in the second trial. . This can be a headache for Jang Won-young and Starship Entertainment.
