Despite challenges in investigating actor Lee Sun Gyun and singer G-Dragon for drug accusations, authorities would continue investigations.
The legal community reported that the Incheon Police Agency’s drug criminal investigation section did not prolong G-Dragon’s exit ban on November 27. However, the Ministry of Justice has recently asked to extend Lee Sun Gyun’s restriction on leaving the country.
On November 27, a substantive warrant review was held on Mr. A, a doctor suspected of drugging Lee Sun Gyun and others. Mr. B, the entertainment facility manager, identified Mr. A as a drug supplier, but an arrest order was denied.
Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon were drug-free before. After G-Dragon’s ban on leaving the country was lifted and Mr. A’s arrest warrant application for supplier suspicions was rejected, there are still accusations that the police put themselves in a precarious situation by conducting an unreasonable investigation.
A high-ranking National Police Agency official suggested at a press briefing on November 27 KST that G-Dragon may not be prosecuted. “I believe all options are open till a conclusion. Several details need to be investigated, he said.
“If drug use is obvious in numerous contexts, it is wrong to send the case to indictment because it is negative. The outcome is unknown.” He noted that sometimes a complete analytical result is negative, but drug use conditions are evident and a guilty verdict is given.
