SM Entertainment Denies Being Aware Of EXO Baekhyun’s New Label

SM Entertainment denied knowing about EXO Baekhyun’s new record imprint.

As Baekhyun himself stated in a livestream on August 9, SM Entertainment responded to allegations that they were supportive of Baekhyun’s new label. SME stated, “We were unaware of the situation and learned about it from the news.” We are surprised, but we have faith that he will honour our agreement.”

SM Entertainment also addressed EXO-CBX’s (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin) contracts, stating, “The current contract has not yet expired. “Baekhyun’s contract is valid until January of next year.” As indicated in previous statements, the contracts of the band members have been modified. As we previously disclosed, we negotiated with the interests of the supporters in mind. As you are aware, EXO was working on a new album at the time. We feared that if the legal dispute persisted, we would be unable to promote the album that the members had worked so hard on, and that the future of EXO’s group promotions would be uncertain. Therefore, we negotiated for the future promotions of the group.”
