SM Entertainment To Take Strong Action Against Defamation And Sexual Harassment Of Artists…No Settlement

SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM) warned that it would take strong action against defamation of its artists.

SM issued an official statement on the 8th, saying, “To strengthen the protection of artist rights and interests and collect opinions from fans, we have reported KANGTA, BoA, TVXQ, and SUPER through the bulletin board in the ‘Artist Defamation Report’ category on the newly established ‘Wilderness 119′ site. “We have received numerous reports regarding infringement on the rights of our artists, including JUNIOR, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT DREAM, WayV, aespa, RIIZE, NCT WISH, GINJO, IMLAY, Raiden, etc.” Through the valuable reports received from fans and our own monitoring, we have a law firm (Lihan) regarding the continuous criminal acts that go beyond freedom of expression, such as spreading false information, malicious slander, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy targeting our artists. “We are continuing to respond together with Sejong.”

SM said, “The main issues are ▲acts that defame the personality rights and honor of affiliated artists by creating untrue and baseless malicious rumors, ▲acts of impersonating or stalking affiliated artists, and ▲obscene use of the affiliated artist’s portraits without permission. There are acts such as producing or distributing illegal photos and videos, ▲acts that insult artists for the purpose of openly defaming them, etc. A complaint has been filed against this, and several investigations and investigations are currently underway by investigative agencies such as the police and prosecutors. He said, “We will not sit idly by and respond to these criminal acts in accordance with our principles without any leniency or agreement.”
