Son Heung Min and Lee Kang apologize for ‘table tennis controversy’
On February 21, KST, Lee Kang In criticized Son Heung Min on Instagram over the ‘Table Tennis Gate’ incident in the national soccer squad. He apologized to seniors, teammates, and soccer fans in his post.
Lee Kang In personally apologized to Son Heung Min in London for their fight. Son Heung Min responded on social media the same day.
“Lee Kangin is struggling following the incident. Please forgive him once “Son Heung Min wrote. He added, “I made many mistakes and behaved poorly in my youth. My success now is due to the wise counsel of respected seniors.”
Son Heung Min recalled the confrontation with Lee Kang In to build national team togetherness. He said “It is the captain’s responsibility to address such unpleasant matters for the team’s sake,” as well as “However, I recognize that my actions were also not commendable and are open to criticism.”
Son Heung Min apologized for the table tennis scandal, saying, “I deeply apologize for causing such a stir despite being greatly cherished for my contributions to soccer.” He said “I will strive to turn this incident into an opportunity for further growth of the Korean national team in the future.”
Son Heung Min supported Lee Kang In, saying, “Kangin has sincerely reflected on his actions and offered heartfelt apologies to all national team players, including myself.” His statement included a photo of him and Lee Kang In, indicating reconciliation.
