Song Joong Ki’s “My Name Is Loh Kiwan” On Netflix is The Highest Ranked Non-English Film Globally



The Netflix film ‘My Name is Loh Kiwan’, which stars Song Joong Ki, is currently ranked number one in the world’s top 10 non-English movies category in just its second week of release.

‘My Name is Loh Kiwan’ garnered 5.1 million viewing hours globally between March 4–10, according to Netflix’s most recent data, which was released on March 13 KST. This is a considerable increase over the show’s first-week 3-place debut.

With its engaging story, the movie has gained popularity in 31 countries, including Korea, Portugal, Peru, Venezuela, Malaysia, and Turkey.


Under the direction of Kim Hee Jin, ‘My Name is Loh Kiwan’ explores the tale of a North Korean defector who ends up in Belgium in search of safety and a woman who discovers new meaning in life as a result of their chance meeting. Song Joong Ki plays the title character in the movie, which is based on Jo Hae Jin’s novel “I Met Loh Kiwan” and follows his quest to obtain refugee status. Marie, portrayed by Choi Sung Eun, has a life-changing encounter with Kiwan.

‘Doctor Slump,’ starring Park Shin Hye and Park Hyungsik, claimed the fifth and seventh places in the global non-English TV series category with 2.2 million and 1.2 million viewing hours, respectively.
