Taeyong’s Comeback MV Was Criticized By Korean Netizens, Who Advised Him To ‘Move To Japan

After his comeback MV, “TAP”, NCT member Taeyong is being criticized by Korean internet.

“TAP” is a hip-hop song featuring bluesy tones and a catchy rap that was released on February 28 at 6 PM KST as the title track from Taeyong’s 2nd mini album.

The Tokyo-filmed “TAP” MV seems to be inspired by the popular Japanese reality show ‘Old Enough!’ (or ‘My First Errand’). Taeyong wakes up in a traditional Japanese home and sets out to find dango. He then visits a cafe, a public bath (where he dances in front of a giant Mt. Fuji artwork), and more in Tokyo until he finds it. The MV also has Korean and Japanese captions, generating issues.

Korean netizens disliked the “Japanese-flavor” MV.

Many criticized harshly, saying,

Does he support Japan? Just visit Japan!”
“Can he even call himself Korean?”
“Does he want to become Japanese…”
“Fans can’t defend him here. They should remove the MV and never discuss it again.”
“Everything is so Japanese that it’s not controversial. It may be a J-Pop idol’s MV.”
“Well I will never ever listen to this song as long as I live.”
“Wow honorary Japanese.”
This angers me. Tomorrow is March 1!”
“Putting this MV out a week before March First… you have no one to blame even if people call you a traitor.”
“Just go to Japan and be a Japanese idol already.”
“Whoever thought of this idea, whoever gave the green light for this idea, whoever worked on this MV… nice to know there are so many pro-Japanese at SM.”
“Just go to the army already.”

The “TAP” MV included TSUBAKILL, the Japanese dancing troupe from ‘Street Woman Fighter 2’.
