Despite the fact that fanwars are not uncommon in K-pop, this is yet another instance in which fans have crossed the line, which is especially surprising (not) given that it was initiated by Twice fans, who are supposedly “peaceful” and “superior” to everyone else.
Recently, an ONCE (Twice’s fandom) uploaded an edit to TikTok that denigrated and slandered other K-pop idols while attempting to promote Twice. Numerous idols, including Rosé, V, Lisa, Wendy, Irene, Chaeryeong, Ryujin, Giselle, and Stray Kids, were disparaged throughout the video.
Fans of TWICE are notorious for constantly assaulting other idols for no reason. They have frequently fought with other fandoms, notably those of Stray Kids and BLACKPINK. Since ONCEs (and Twice as well) do not produce any noise, nobody perceives them as a “threat”
It appears that ONCEs attempt to pick conflicts with large fandoms in order to gain notoriety. One of the members, Jihyo, is about to make her solo debut, so it may be a strategy by ONCEs to draw the attention of other fandoms to it so that it gains traction and views that ONCEs knows they could never achieve on their own, even if other fandoms only watch it to criticise and attack Jihyo for it. Jihyo and the rest of Twice will suffer greatly as a result, as ONCEs attacked numerous artists in a single video, thereby affecting ten-twenty fandoms.
I believe that ONCEs should focus on their own icons rather than doing all of this. I do not believe Twice is so dull that even their own followers cannot concentrate on them. It’s also amusing that they only attack other idols based on rumours, going so far as to make fun of Wendy’s severe injury, when their own idols are plainly Nazis, racists, mockers of other cultures, and suffer from mental and physical health issues. Chaeyoung (from Twice) supports genocide and QAnon; Jihyo/Jeongyeon have mocked Indians in the past; Momo and most of Twice singing poorly at almost every encore and them being captured using lipsync even during “live” performances; and Dahyun’s lack of talent raises questions as to how she was able to debut. This is only a portion of what they have accomplished. Jeongyeon suffers from obesity and depression, Mina has mental health issues, and Sana fainted at a concert, so making light of someone’s health problems is also repulsive and low-class.
Before mocking accomplished and talented people, ONCEs should consider themselves and their favourite celebrities.
