Yerin Of GFriend Has Been Called Out For Following The “Dr. Hong” Trend.

Yerin from GFriend is criticized for joining the “Dr. Hong” fad.
On September 23rd, Yerin shared a video on her official account titled “Do you know Dr. Hong~?” Yerin and comedian Jo Hoon’s alter ego Jo Ju-bong took the “Dr. Hong” challenge.

The July digital single “Do You Know Dr. Hong?” by Jo Ju-bong started the “Dr. Hong” challenge. The song “Do You Know Dr. Hong?” addresses women’s bodily anxieties.

The challenge became popular among primary school kids because to its non-explicit lyrics and simple dance.

Concerns have been raised regarding young people hearing about “49+”. Yerin’s challenge has aroused online debate and controversy.

The new song was promoted by Yerin on Jo Hoon’s YouTube channel, “The Myeonsang”. Despite being likely to capitalize on the trend, Yerin and her agency were criticized for ignoring bad public opinion, especially when an idol’s image is vital.

The 1.61 million-subscriber music YouTube channel “It’s Live” also hosted comedian Jo Hoon. In the video, Jo Hoon played “Do You Know Dr. Hong?” with a band as Jo Ju-bong. After a frigid reception, the video was taken private. It appears that bad public sentiment prompted the video’s privacy.

The “Dr. Hong” challenge is being criticized for its outdated “49+” idea. The “challenge ban” has been called for by idol admirers. Also erased was Yerin’s challenge video.
