2NE1 Beats Girls’ Generation On “Comeback Home”; Park Bom Tears Up [Choi Hye-jin’s Latte]

10 years ago, Park Bom, a member of the girl group 2NE1 (CL, Park Bom, Sandara Park, Gong Minzy), burst into tears after winning first place on a music show.

On February 27, 2014, 2NE1’s 2nd full-length album ‘Crush’ was released. The title song ‘COME BACK HOME’ is a song with the participation of Teddy, who was a YG Entertainment producer at the time, and is a crossover genre song that mixes reggae and hip-hop.

Ten years ago, there was a ‘retro’ craze in the music industry. ‘Come Back Home’ combines this retro melody with a modern sound. The easy and addictive melody was also a major feature.

The feminine yet understated choreography was also a hot topic. In particular, it was revealed that Yang Hyun-suk, who was the CEO of YG Entertainment, personally created the choreography for ‘Come Back Home’ after receiving requests from 2NE1 members.

2NE1 dominated major domestic music charts upon the release of their new song. ‘Come Back Home’ ranked first on domestic music sites such as Melon, and the double title song ‘It Can’t Be You’ ranked second. It also ranked 2nd on the Melon Comprehensive Weekly Chart in the first week of March 2014 (March 3 to March 9).

2NE1 also swept first place on music shows. In particular, on the SBS music program ‘Inkigayo’, which aired on March 9, 2014, they captured the attention of fans by taking first place, beating the girl group Girls’ Generation, which made a comeback around the same time.

Girls’ Generation was promoting the title song ‘Mr. Mr.’ of the same name from their 4th mini album ‘Mr.Mr.’, which was released on February 24, 2014.

2NE1, who defeated their fierce rival, shared their tearful feelings on ‘Inkigayo’. Member Park Bom, who was in tears, said, “I’m really grateful to CEO Yang Hyun-suk, Teddy, and the fans who choreographed the choreography. I will continue to bring you good music.”
