“Global Pop Star” Jungkook Expands His Trophy Collection with Another Prestigious American Music Award.
At the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, which took place in Santa Monica, California, on the 18th (local time), Jungkook was named “The Male Artist of the Year.”
Jungkook has won two People’s Choice Awards trophies in a row after winning “The Collaboration Song of the Year” at the previous (2022) show for the song “Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS)” published in 2022 with Charlie Puth. As the first K-pop solo artist to win at this particular award event, Jungkook made history when he took home the “The Collaboration Song of the Year” title.
At this year’s People’s Choice Awards, Morgan Wallen, who held the most number one spots on the US Billboard ‘Hot 100’ in 2023, and Drake, The Weeknd, and Bad Bunny—three of the top four artists in terms of last year’s Spotify stream volume—were among the fierce competitors in the ‘Male Artist of the Year’ category.
With the release of his first single, “Seven (feat. Latto),” his second solo single, “3D (feat. Jack Harlow),” and his solo album, “GOLDEN,” Jungkook made his official solo debut last year. He went on to achieve remarkable success on numerous international charts and solidified his status as a genuine “global pop star.”
At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in September of last year, Jungkook’s song “Seven” took home the “Song of Summer” title. Along with winning “Best Song” and “Best K-Pop” at the 2023 MTV Europe Music trophies, he also won “Top Global K-Pop Song” at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, making history as the first Korean solo artist to win two trophies.
At the “2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards” in the USA on April 1st, Jungkook is scheduled to compete for four awards: “Best Music Video,” “Favorite Debut Album,” “Kpop Artist Of The Year,” and “Kpop Song Of The Year.”
