After experiencing modifications as a result of contract disputes this year, the audience is interested about the upcoming EXO.
Recently, D.O. (Do Kyung-soo) quit SM and founded SooSoo Company. D.O.’s exclusive contract was set to expire in early November, according to SM’s announcement on October 18. The agency he created with a former SM manager will handle his acting and independent endeavors. SM did stress that D.O. will keep collaborating with SM on EXO initiatives.
Actually, this year has seen SM and EXO handle a number of contract-related problems. A conflict arose when Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin (EXO CBX unit) informed SM that their exclusive contract was terminated earlier in June. Following a number of disagreements, SM declared that they had come to an understanding with the three members.
Later, Baekhyun revealed that he had founded a private organization to provide dancers and choreographers with training while conducting a variety of tasks in a setting under his supervision. “I will run my own company and continue EXO promotions in SM,” he clarified. SM acknowledged Baekhyun’s founding of a private company while being perplexed by it, stating, “We believe he will keep our mutual agreement.”
Following that, there were reports that Chanyeol and Sehun had signed solo activity contracts with various agencies. “The two members’ contracts with SM are still valid,” SM argued in response to all of them. Similar to Baekhyun’s situation, the agency also stressed that members can handle their own individual activities through independently founded businesses while still having a contract with SM for group promotions. As a result, it’s possible that other members will establish independent private agencies in order to establish their own schedules.
EXO, a group that has been together under SM since their debut, has undergone adjustments as a result of these contract disputes. Despite working for separate firms, all members have, of course, come to an agreement with SM regarding group activities. Fans are still a little let down, though, as it will be harder to see the members’ collective activity moving forward.
Suho, the leader of EXO, recently appeared on a fan site and firmly stated, “Don’t worry about EXO activities,” acknowledging that fans were worried. That will be Suho’s responsibility. In a recent interview, following the conclusion of his drama, Suho also discussed EXO’s future plans, saying, “The members recently gathered to discuss the release of our new album next year,” and “We respect each member’s dreams, but EXO will continue working as a group for a long time.”
Actually, these modifications may improve the conditions in which the members can concentrate more on their individual careers. SM struggles to meet everyone’s wants and aspirations because they have too many artists. Therefore, it is required of EXO members to actively manage their individual solo endeavors through their private enterprises and to optimize their skills while preserving excellent teamwork.
Focus has shifted to EXO’s upcoming actions both individually and collectively following their 11th anniversary celebration.
