With their most recent album, “LALALALA,” Stray Kids achieved a noteworthy milestone in their musical career by becoming the first artist to ever appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This accomplishment, which was revealed on November 20 via the official Billboard website, represents a new level of the group’s global success.
According to Billboard, “The song, released Nov. 10 on the group’s new album ROCK-STAR, debuts at No. 90 on the Hot 100 with 6.1 million U.S. streams and 3,000 downloads sold in the Nov. 10-16 tracking week, according to Luminate.”
The influence of the group doesn’t end there. In the first week of their release, Stray Kids sold an astounding 224,000 equivalent records in the United States, earning them the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Their twin accomplishments demonstrate their rising notoriety and impact on the world music scene.
With their achievement, Stray Kids has become the seventh K-pop group overall to reach the Billboard Hot 100 chart, joining an exclusive group of K-pop artists. Wonder Girls (2009), BTS (2017), BLACKPINK (2018), TWICE (2021), and the most recent additions, NewJeans and FIFTY FIFTY in 2023, are among the artists on this list. 2023 is particularly significant since it will see several K-pop groups emerge on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, demonstrating the genre’s growing appeal and global reach.
