On April 1, News1 exclusively reported that BLACKPINK’s Jennie would release a solo album in June. Seven hours later, Jennie’s own label, ODD ATELIER, refuted News1’s story, saying “nothing has been confirmed yet.”

“Jennie is writing songs. Neither the release date nor whether it will be an album or EP have been confirmed, the agency added.

Some Jennie admirers are disappointed by her lack of a comeback after leaving YG Entertainment.

While with YG, Jennie had few solo schedules other than brand ambassador and fashion brand contracts. Thus, when she founded her own organization, many anticipated the female star would have more options and boost her name without the “restraints” of the previous management company.

Currently, Jennie’s followers think ODD ATELIER is worse than YG. They said that her recent variety show, “Apartment 404,” was uninteresting. Jennie’s presence didn’t improve viewership.

Jennie also appeared in Matt Champion’s “Slow Motion”. Even though Jennie was famous, the song was not promoted, therefore it gained little attention. Jennie’s personal label, ODD ATELIER, is accused of being less skilled than YG, making blunders, and disregarding fans’ opinions.

On April 4, South Korean media exclusively announced that Jennie would cooperate with Zico and release a single in April. The BLACKPINK member will also feature in Zico’s MV to support the male rapper’s 10th anniversary.

According to TenAsia, Jennie instantly accepted Zico’s collaborative proposal, demonstrating their close connection. Fans were frustrated when Zico’s management business said this information was hard to validate and ODD ATELIER was reluctant to respond.

Is ODD ATELIER inept?

Jennie’s June solo return was refused by ODD ATELIER, which prompted the backlash. Fan excitement for the idol’s return led to “cold water” as they didn’t have time to celebrate, producing peak disappointment and controversy. However, Jennie only founded her firm four months ago, and her solo efforts have “outdone” her time at YG.

In April 2024, Jennie has 6 global ads, appears on talk shows and variety shows, and collaborates. Jennie’s itinerary has impressed South Korean media, confirming that her solo career is ready to begin following YG.

A spokesman from ODD ATELIER also stated that Jennie would not appear in any variety programs following “Apartment 404” to focus on her record. She told supporters she will try to make a solo album in 2024.

Thus, Jennie is focused on finishing her solo record and releasing it at the right time. Jennie’s supporters should be more patient and wait for her official announcement instead of becoming enthusiastic and blaming their idol now more than ever.
